Nicole Lovato is a Native American from the desert of the Santa Domingo Pueblo in New Mexico who joined the ship for eighteen months starting with the North Pacific Crossing in May, 2003. Prior to the 4 1/2 month voyage to Seattle, she had never been to the ocean, let alone on a sail boat!

In her journals, Nicole describes how she learns to become a seaman, diver, coral reef field researcher and adventurer. She was sponsored by Wings of America to be a voice - a messenger - about the coral reefs, cultures and the ocean.
